MINSK, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- The number of ceasefire breaches in southeast Ukraine has recently soared, Martin Sajdik, the special representative of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine, said on Wednesday.
Ceasefire violations have unluckily slightly on the rise as of late, Sajdik told reporters following the group's meeting in Minsk.
At the same time, over the past few weeks the number of ceasefire breaches remained at a lower level as compared with the situation seen before the truce has been resumed on the New Year and Christmas holidays, he said.
Members of the security working group repeatedly said they are committed to a comprehensive, stable and indefinite ceasefire, Sajdik said.
The working group on security discussed the matters related to the withdrawal of forces and hardware, and also demining as well as the need to restore the key objects of civil infrastructure and demine approaches to checkpoints, Sajdik said.
He informed the working group on humanitarian affairs emphasized once again that the exchange of detainees in late December 2017 was a great achievement and discussed further possible steps in this regard.
The next meeting of the contact group on Ukraine will take place in Minsk on February 14.
