YANGON, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Young couples, wearing matching outfits and holding hands, were seen wandering along the streets in downtown Yangon, Wednesday on the Valentine's Day.
Special menus for couples and promotions are introduced at restaurants, bars, cafes and shopping malls to attract youngsters before the fall of the Valentine's Day.
Public parks and shopping malls are also crowded with couples holding bouquets of flowers, teddy bears and balloons, enjoying themselves.
"As demand for flowers and stuffed dolls is high during the day, we are out of the supply now," a floral and gift service shop owner told Xinhua.
"Red rose, a symbol of love and romance, plays a main role in flower bouquets. Lily and carnation are also well sold. The prices differ from designs of the bouquet, types and number of flowers," she added.
Couple outfits are also popular among youngsters. They are designed in multiple patterns, colors and some have messages such as "I Love You" and "Me Too" printed on them.
Stuffed dolls, especially giant teddy bears, are significant under the Valentine theme, making gift shops commercialized during the day.
Chocolates, candies and cards with love messages also have to be mentioned as they are part of showing love and affection among couples.
Colorful cards with messages such as "You are the best gift for this Valentine's Day ever," "Let's count days together from now on" and "May our days be filled with love and prosperity" are exchanged among lovers and special ones.
Some couples register for marriage on the Valentine's Day.
"This Valentine's Day is our first anniversary. We have created sweet memories together until today and hope our love will last until the end. We normally spend the day having meals at restaurants and recalling memories while talking to each other at a quiet cafe," a young couple joyfully said.
Most couples celebrate the Valentine's Day having candle-lit dinner at restaurants.
