BEIRUT, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Lebanese State Security said on Wednesday that it arrested a Syrian citizen suspected of belonging to the Islamic State group in northern Lebanon.

The suspect confessed that he was responsible for raising money for the terror group, the state security said in a statement.

The arrest was made in the largest port city of Tripoli in northern Lebanon and the suspect was found using his brother's identification papers.

A security source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity that the suspect in his mid-30s was identified and arrested when entering a government office building.

The Lebanese army and Internal Security Forces are taking strict measures across the country to search people with suspected links to terrorist groups.
