RABAT, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter endorsed Morocco's bid to host the 2026 World Cup on Thursday.

In a tweet on his official twitter account, Blatter said "Morocco would be the logical host! And it is time for Africa again!"

Referencing to Morocco's competing joint bid from the United States, Mexico and Canada, the ex-FIFA head said "Co-hosting rejected by FIFA after 2002 (also applied in 2010 and 2018)."

Last August, Morocco submitted their application to host the 2026 World Cup to the world football governing body FIFA, positioning themselves as the sole challengers to the joint north American bid.

This is Morocco's fifth bid to host the World Cup, after their unsuccessful bids for the 1994, 1998, 2006 and 2010 editions of the tournament.

FIFA will make the decision at FIFA Congress on June 13 in Moscow, Russia, on the eve of the opening match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
