BEIJING, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Cameroonian President Paul Biya will pay a state visit to China from Thursday to Saturday at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The following is a brief introduction to the Cameroonian leader.
Biya, 85, obtained a bachelor's degree in international public law in France.
He started to work for the Cameroonian government in 1962, and served as director of Civil Office in the Presidency, secretary-general of the Presidency, and in other posts.
He assumed office as prime minister in 1965.
He became president in 1982, and was re-elected president continuously six times in 1984, 1988, 1992, 1997, 2004 and 2011.
Biya paid official visits to China in 1987, 1993, 2003 and 2011, and attended the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation summit in Beijing in 2006.
