DOHA, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Qatar renewed its support to the Palestinians for self-determination and restoration of their legitimate rights, the state-run Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported on Wednesday.
The remarks were made by Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations (UN) Office at Geneva Ali Khalfan al Mansouri attending the 37th session of the Human Rights Council.
The Qatari envoy said his country fully supports Palestine's human rights and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state at the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital, QNA reported.
Al Mansouri also said the continuation of demolition of Palestinian homes and the confiscation of their lands are flagrant violations of international law.
He stressed that Israel is obliged to comply with relevant international laws and treaties. However, the transferring of Israeli settlers to the settlements is a clear violation of the international law.
Earlier on March, Qatar announced a 50 million U.S. dollars donation to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
On Dec. 6, 2017, U.S. President Donald Trump announced to recognize the disputed holy city of Jerusalem as Israel's capital and ordered the relocation of its embassy from Tel Aviv to the city.
Israel took over East Jerusalem in the 1967 war and later declared the united city as its eternal capital, while the Palestinians hope to establish a future independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
