International badminton tourney in Vietnam concludes

HANOI, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia and Japan won the women's and men's singles events, respectively, at the Ciputra Hanoi-Yonex Sunrise Vietnam International Challenge 2018 which concluded here on Sunday.

In the three-set final game of the women's singles, Dinar Dyah Ayustine from Indonesia defeated Asuka Takahashi from Japan.

In the two-set final match of the men's singles, Goh Giap Chin from Malaysia lost to Kento Momota from Japan.

Thai players Maneepong Jongjit and Nanthakarn Yordphaisong beat their Malaysian rivals to win the men's doubles title.

South Korean players Baek Ha Na and Lee Yu Rim finished first at the women's doubles event after defeating a Malaysian duo.

Vietnamese player Do Tuan Duc and his compatriot Pham Nhu Thao topped the mixed doubles event after downing their Russian rivals.

The tournament kicked off on Tuesday with the participation of 292 shuttlers from 18 countries and regions, including China, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, Thailand and India.

The tournament had total cash prizes of 25,000 U.S. dollars.
