JERUSALEM, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Monday called on standing together against terrorism that afflicts the world when he met with the visiting French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.

"We have to fight terrorists wherever they are," said Netanyahu. "We have to fight terror-sponsoring regimes wherever they are."

The prime minster believed the foremost terrorist-sponsoring regime is Iran, saying "we have to roll back its aggression and must ensure that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons."

Meanwhile, Netanyahu highlighted the "deep and enduring" friendship between France and Israel.

"We fight the same fights against terrorism ... for the security of the entire region," said Le Drian.

The year 2018 is special for Israel and France, as over 200 cultural events that will take place in both Israel and France, said the Foreign Minister.

More visits are anticipated and the bond is tightening, added Le Drian. "This is a sign that the friendship is very deep and strong and we have much in common."
