NANJING, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Fabio Capello will no longer serve as the head coach of Jiangsu Suning, following friendly negotiations between the two parties, the Chinese Super League (CSL) club announced on Wednesday.
Capello handed in his resignation due to personal reasons, and his resignation was accepted by the club with the contract being terminated before its expiration date, Jiangsu Suning told Xinhua.
Romanian Cosmin Olaroiu will replace Capello, who will continue to co-operate with Jiangsu Suning to help the club with his professional advice.
Capello, boasts a stunning CV of Serie A, La Liga and Champions League trophies, and he is the third big name Italian coach in China along with Marcello Lippi and Fabio Cannavaro.
Capello took over Jiangsu Suning in June 2017 when the club was struggling near the bottom of the CSL and was eliminated by Shanghai SIPG in the first knockout stage of the AFC Champions League.
Capello's arrival didn't bring a quick change of fortunes for the club. He led Jiangsu Sining to a 12th place finish in the CSL last season. The club has played three rounds of this season's CSL, recording one win and two losses.
Jiangsu Suning will face Tianjin Taida on Sunday and the game is expected to be Olaroiu's debut.
Olaroiu is well experienced in coaching Asian teams, having led clubs from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates to new trophies. He already arrived in Nanjing.
