NAIROBI, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's Agnes Barsosio said Wednesday it will take special talent and focus to break her record at the Dusseldorf Marathon, which will be held on April 29.
Barsosio, who broke the record in her debut in 2012, will not be competing in next month's race but believes she set the bar high and any chasers will have to put up a spirited battle to lower it. Barsosio's course record in Dusseldorf stands at 2:25.49.
"It was hard and tough to run that time then and I believe it is still tough today. But records are meant to be broken so, if anyone is going for my record, all I can say is it will take more than talking," she said.
Belarus' Mazuronak has warned she is going for the record. The Olympic marathon fifth-placer, who is now coached by Wolfgang Heinig, has a personal best time of 2:23:54.
The line-up also includes reigning champion Doroteia Peixoto from Portugal (2:32:00) and former winner Zsofia Erdelyi from Hungary (2:35:37).
The men's line-up includes Kenya's Edwin Kiptoo (2:11:24) and Japan's Hideyuki Ikegami (2:13:41).
