5.9-magnitude quake hits 40km SW of Puerto El Triunfo, El Salvador: USGS

NEW YORK, April 2 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale jolted 40km SW of Puerto El Triunfo, El Salvador at 23:23:18 GMT on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 49.89 km, was initially determined to be at 13.0306 degrees north latitude and 88.8159 degrees west longitude.
