BUDAPEST, April 4 (Xinhua) -- In a speech delivered here on Wednesday, just days before Hungary's general elections on Sunday, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban warned the voters of the risks of turning the country's capital into an immigrant city if their ballots do not go to him.

Orban made the speech at the inauguration ceremony of the Ludovika Campus of the National University of Public Service.

"Those who opt for the opposition on Sunday, chose a path that leads to the everydays of an immigrant country, and those who chose our candidates opt for safety," he declared.

According to the incumbent prime minister, Budapest is today one of the safest cities in the world, but he warned that this could change once "a bad decision" is made.

Orban is seeking a third consecutive term in the general elections scheduled on Sunday.

Orban has put the fight against mass migration as a central theme of his electoral campaign since the migration crisis outbreak in 2015.

He also defended the border fence, a symbol of his anti-migrant policy, in his speech, saying "The fence built on the southern border protects primarily Budapest."

He noted that Budapest was a main target of migration, and stressed that the massive campaigns of migrants such as the one happened in the capital's "Keleti" train station in 2015 had to be avoided in the future.

To defend Hungary and the results of the past years, the prime minister said "a powerful army, border protection, a strong police force and a well-functioning public administration was needed."

Orban is leading the polls with a tremendous advantage. According to the latest findings of the Nezopont Intezet (Point of View Institute), published here on Wednesday, 50 percent of the total adult population would choose Viktor Orban again as prime minister.
