LUANDA, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Interclub beat on Tuesday night Sport Libolo and Benfica 77-66, in the first leg of the quarter-finals at the Angolan senior men's basketball Cup, played at Luanda's 28 de Fevereiro arena.
With a shared favoritism, both teams went very well in the various sectors demonstrating enough arguments to get the best in the first quarter, which ended with a tie of 17 points.
In the second quarter, the Interclub managed to grab the lead 34-31.
The beginning of the second half saw Libolo's experienced players like Olimpio Cipriano, Milton Barros and Benvindo Kimbamba try to claw back the points but their efforts were not quite enough as the Interclub that bet strongly in the rapid transitions, won the third quarter by 49-46.
In the last quarter, the Interclub pressed hard, leaving Libolo few chances of recovering and won the match 77-66.
Speaking to the media, Sport Libolo and Benfica coach, Raul Duarte, pointed out that the lack of productivity led to the loss.
Meanwhile, Interclub coach Manuel Sousa "Necas" praised his team's attitude in the victory over Libolo, explaining that the victory was due to the dynamism and concentration managed by his team during the match.
In other matches, Petro de Luanda beat Crisguza de Benguela 95-65, 1º de Agosto hammered Hermarc Academia 116-71, while Marinha de Guerra defeated ASA 67-66.
