NAIROBI, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Kenya women's rugby sevens team is confident to return to the World Series and qualify as a core team in 2019 after failing to impress in Hong Kong two weeks ago.
The team, which is back in the country, is now putting its focus on dominating Africa competitions.
The team, also known as Lionesses, has its skipper Philadelphia Olando saying their sight is cast on conquering Africa when the Women's Africa Cup Sevens take place in Gaborone, Botswana on May 26-28.
"It was always going to be tough with New Zealand and Canada in our group as the top ranked teams. The team showed the world what they have," said coach Kevin Wambua.
"We are on the right path and the start of hard work to prepare for Africa Cup," Wambua added on Friday.
