CHICAGO, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) agricultural commodities closed mixed on Monday with soybeans falling for the fourth consecutive session.
The most active corn contract for July delivery rose 2 cents, or 0.52 percent to settle at 3.875 dollars per bushel. July wheat delivery fell 2.75 cents, or 0.58 percent to close at 4.745 dollars per bushel. July soybeans went down 8 cents, or 0.77 percent to settle at 10.3225 dollars per bushel.
CBOT wheat was higher in the morning after limited rain fell in the southern plains later last week. Despite forecasts for up to two inches (5 centimeters) of rainfall in some areas, only patchy rains fell, which could not offer widespread relief.
However, wheat futures turned lower toward the end of the session following technical selling.
CBOT soybeans, which have been under pressure from the Sino-American trade tensions, were weaker on another day lacking any new export sales announcements. Soybean futures have declined for four sessions in a row.
Corn futures, suffering a sharp fall last Friday, recovered on Monday amid short-covering. Enditem
