JERUSALEM, May 14 (Xinhua) -- The Kerem Shalom goods crossing will reopen on Tuesday, Israel's military said Monday night, two days after Israel shut down the passage.

A military statement said Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman decided to open the crossing following recommendations by the military and the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories.

Kerem Shalom, the Gaza Strip's main cargo crossing, was closed down by Israel on Saturday after Palestinian protesters torched fuel pipelines at the site.

The move came amid growing criticism over Israel's use of live fire against protesters near the Gaza border fence.

At least 55 Palestinians, including minors, were killed and 2,771 others injured during clashes with Israeli troops on Monday, the Palestinian health ministry said.
