BELGRADE, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Serbia and China held the first meeting of a cooperation committee between the two country's legislatures on Tuesday, aiming to promote bilateral legislative cooperation.
The meeting was co-chaired by Cao Jianming, visiting vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, and his counterpart Veroljub Arsic, deputy speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia.
The two sides exchanged views on such topics as cooperation in fields of bilateral relations, legislative communications, economy and trade, agriculture and humanity, as well as governance and experience on promoting rule of law.
It is agreed that the successful meeting opened a new phase of the friendly exchange between the two legislatures, which embodies the high-level relations between the two countries.
The two sides are ready, based on the effective platform of the cooperation committee between Chinese and Serbian legislatures, to enhance dialogues in multi fields, exchange experience in lawmaking, deepen mutual trust, promote cooperation, so as to contribute to the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Serbia.
The establishment of the cooperation committee between the two legislative bodies was decided in Beijing between then China's top legislator Zhang Dejiang and Maja Gojkovic, Serbian parliament speaker, during her visit to China from Nov. 25 to Dec. 1, 2017.
