CAIRO, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi phoned on Monday his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas to check on his health conditions.

Sisi wished Abbas a speedy recovery, Sisi's spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement.

The spokesman added that the two leaders discussed the latest Palestinian and regional developments, affirming they would resume mutual discussions over issues of common interest.

On Sunday, Abbas was taken to hospital in Ramallah for medical tests for the second time this week.

According to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, the test results showed that the 82-year-old president's health is very good.

Secretary of the Palestine Liberation Organization Saeb Erekat told reporters Sunday that Abbas would remain at hospital for one or two more days.

Abbas had an ear surgery last Tuesday and left hospital on the same day. Then he headed to hospital on Friday for follow-up tests, according to WAFA.
