CAIRO, May 25 (Xinhua) -- The Arab League (AL) chief on Friday condemned a deadly car bomb explosion in Libya's eastern city of Benghazi late Thursday, which killed six and injured more than 20 people.
According to an AL statement, Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed the group's full solidarity with and support for Libya in combating terrorism and consolidating security and stability across the country.
He also reiterated AL's commitment to continued efforts in resuming the political process and achieving a comprehensive national reconciliation among Libyan sects.
Benghazi, Libya's second largest city, has frequently been targeted by car bombs and suicide attacks.
In response to the deteriorating security situation, the city set up a joint security chamber of army and police officers.
