NEW DELHI, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Banking services are expected to be severely impacted across India for a couple of days as nearly one million employees of the public sector banks are observing a two-day nationwide strike from Wednesday, demanding wage revision.

Spearheaded by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), the bank strike is likely to impact operations at several bank branches and ATMs across the country.

There are as many as 21 public sector banks in the country that control almost 75 percent of the total banking business.

The bank employees decided to go ahead with the strike after the final round of negotiations with the bank association failed to resolve the deadlock on Monday.

The striking bank employees are demanding immediate revision of their wages which is due since November 2017.

According to a banks' union leader in Delhi, the strike notice has been served to Indian Banks Association (IBA) representing the bank management.
