BERLIN, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Thousands of blockchain professionals and fans gathered here Monday and Tuesday in Blockshow Europe 2018 for the application and future development of the technology.

Blockchain refers to a continuously growing list of records, which are linked and secured using cryptography. By design, it is inherently resistant to data modification. Its features of decentration, openness, security, traceability and anonymity make it possible for various application scenes.

Antoine Bruel, head of growth of the company Braincities, said the use of blockchain is far more than virtual currency. Braincities utilizes the technology to help enterprises and hospitals to do recruitment and management works.

"Each access to a CV or a medical history would require the authorization of the job applicant or the patient, in case their personal data get leaked and abused, " Bruel said.

Angel Versetti, CEO of the company Ambrosus, said they apply Blockchain technology in food and pharmaceutical industries. "The technology can help optimize the supply chain and provide safe and qualified products for the customers."

Li Yuan, founder of the company SelfSell, said despite the obvious advantages of the technology, problems of huge backup volume, low efficiency in authorization and impossibility to restore the lost private key still remain.

"Blockchain now can be better used for business organizations than for individual customers. Besides, the technology should better act as a supplement, rather than the replacement of current way to record, such as banks." Li Yuan added.

Alex Mashinsky, founder of the company Celsius Network, said the virtual currency based on the blockchain technology still has room for improvement in terms of maturity, volatility and liquidity. "It's still a young industry which requires not only technology, but the future business model, to prevent the virtual currency from being the tool of illegal activities."

Blockshow Europe is a yearly professional gathering for Blockchain community to build their network. A total of 85 speakers have shared views on the technology this year.
