NEW YORK, May 30 (Xinhua) -- China's innovative smart jewelry brand Totwoo launched its first plug-and-play jewelry tech maker kit in the United States on Wednesday.
"Totwoo Love" Kit was jointly launched by the Beijing-based firm and the U.S. fashion tech company 360Fashion Network at the SAP Next-Gen Space at Hudson Yards in New York City on Wednesday evening.
The kit will be sold online in the United States by Queen of RAW, the premier online destination for designers to find innovative and sustainable raw materials.
It is the first in a series of "Totwoo Inside" 360Fash Tech Kits, wearable tech DIY kits enabling creatives to focus on design and integration as their first step into fashion tech without the need to code or solder.
"With Internet and AI based communication technologies, our jewelry is both beautiful and functional," Mats Jieming Wang, co-founder of Totwoo, told Xinhua at Wednesday's launching ceremony while showcasing how his smart jewelry works.
The kit's signature is the "Totwoo Love Code," where two connected users can share their "virtual emotions" in real-time through the Totwoo APP to vibrate and light up, according to the reporter-turned Internet entrepreneur. Users can store their secret memories and receive alerts: "Take a break," "Fitness Tracker" and "Incoming call."
A tap or a shake makes the necklace or a bracelet with embedded circuitry work as a pedometer, a calorie consumption calculator and a sedentary reminder, he said. And bluetooth paired jewelry-wearers can even communicate by tapping or shaking their accessories and the wearable can send messages that can vary from "I miss you" to "I am sorry."
Totwoo was founded by Wang and Italian designer Marco Dal Maso in 2015. It is the first jewelry brand in the world that makes the use of wearable technology to create interactive emotional experiences.
