GAZA, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Israeli war jets struck with missiles on Saturday night several military posts and facilities that belong to Islamic Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip in response to earlier rockets firing into Israel.

Security sources and local media reported that Israeli war jets and drones carried out several airstrikes on three military facilities that belong to Hamas in the towns of Rafah and Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip and in eastern Gaza City, with no injuries reported.

The Israeli airstrikes came few hours after unknown militants fired two missiles and four mortar shells from the Gaza Strip into Israel, according to Israeli media, which said that the rockets and mortars caused no injuries or damage.

Last week, Gaza militants fired more than 140 rockets and mortar shells into Israel, after which Israeli war jets carried out in response 80 intensive airstrikes on Hamas and Islamic Jihad facilities all over the Gaza Strip.

Tension between Israel and the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip has been growing up since March 30, when the Palestinians organized rallies and protests near the border with Israel. Medics said 119 people have been killed and thousands of others injured since March 30.
