BEIJING, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyz President Sooronbai Jeenbekov will pay a state visit to China from June 6-10, during which he will also attend the 18th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Born in the Osh region in 1958, Jeenbekov graduated from the Kyrgyz Agricultural Institute in 1983 and worked in agricultural institutions in Osh between 1983 and 1996.
He was elected to parliament in 1996 and served as vice chairman and chairman of the house agriculture committee.
In 2007, he was appointed minister of agriculture, water resources and processing industry.
In 2010, he was elected governor of Osh.
In 2015, he was appointed director of the State Personnel Service.
In March 2016, he was appointed first deputy director of the presidential administration.
In April 2016, he became prime minister.
On Oct. 15, 2017, he was elected president of Kyrgyzstan and took office on Nov. 24. His term ends in 2023.
Jeenbekov attended the Summer Davos in China's northern city Tianjin in June 2016.
