BERLIN, Jun 7 (Xinhua) -- Borussia Dortmund have signed midfielder Thomas Delaney from league rivals Werder Bremen, the eight-time German champions announced on Thursday.
The Danish international will reinforce Dortmund's midfield for the upcoming season after putting pen to paper on a four-year deal, which ties him to the club until June 2022.
"Thomas Delaney is a physically strong player, who always has the desire to win. He fits perfectly into our team and will enrich our game," Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc said.
The midfielder has been at Werder Bremen since January 2017 and has six assists and seven goals in the 45 appearances he made for the club. The 26-year-old has been part of the Danish national team set up since 2013 and has scored four goals in 26 appearances.
"It was always my wish to play in the English Premier League and I also had offers, but when Dortmund called I didn't have to think long," Delaney said.
Borussia Dortmund finished the 2017-2018 Bundesliga season in fourth place.
