TOKYO, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Thursday as investor sentiment was dented by trade concerns following reports the United States may look to be imposing new tariffs on imports.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 164.51 points, or 0.72 percent, from Wednesday to 22,801.87.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 14.70 points, or 0.82 percent, to 1,785.67.
Miscellaneous product, mining, and pulp and paper-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes from the morning bell.
