ATHENS, June 21 (Xinhua) -- The National Archaeological Museum of Athens participated this year in the celebration of the European Music Festival, with a special concert in the atrium of the museum.

The ensemble of Ancient Greek music "Lyravlos" presented a performance titled "Ancient Instruments - New Sounds", bridging the past and present in an immersive way.

With a variety of sounds from 30 ancient Greek and traditional instruments, the band travelled the audience to ancient and modern Greece with a mood for satire and feast.

On its 19th year, the European Music Day, the biggest open air, entrance-free musical gathering, brings again all the musicians out into the streets, in the neighborhoods, squares and parks.

From southern Crete island to Thessaloniki city in the north, European Music Day was celebrated all over the country, with the programs being enriched and new cities joined.

From 21 to 24 of June, 55 cities of Greece are hosting more than 300 concerts and cultural events.
