TEHRAN, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Iranian navy would be supplied with new home-made destroyers in near future, Tehran Times daily reported on Sunday.
"Dena, one of the destroyers, has been manufactured by the Defense Ministry's marine industries organization and it will join the army's naval fleet in the south soon," Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi was quoted as saying.
Dena is the latest version of Mowj-class vessels, he said, adding that it will be put into operation along with another home-made destroyer, Sahand, by the end of fall.
Naval tests on the Sahand are also being carried out presently, Khanzadi said but did not elaborate on the technical and combat specifications of the destroyers.
