BEIJING, June 25 (Xinhua) -- The body of Zhao Nanqi, former vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), was cremated Monday in Beijing.
Zhao, also a former member of the Central Military Commission, died at the age of 91 on June 17 in Beijing.
Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji, Han Zheng, Wang Qishan, Hu Jintao as well as other senior officials paid their final respects at the service at Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery in Beijing.
They stood in silent tribute and bowed three times in front of Zhao's body. They also extended their condolences to his family.
Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Li Zhanshu, Wang Yang, Wang Huning, Zhao Leji, Han Zheng, Wang Qishan, Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao had either visited Zhao when he was in the hospital or offered their condolences after his death.
Zhao served as the vice chairman of the ninth National Committee of the CPPCC. He was also the former head of the logistical department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), and former president of the Academy of Military Science of the PLA.
Zhao was described in an official statement as an excellent member of the Communist Party of China, a long-tested and loyal Communist fighter, a proletarian revolutionary, an outstanding leader of ethnic work, and a leader in modernizing logistics of the Chinese military.
