JAKARTA, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian authority resumed the operation of international I Gusti Ngurah Rai airport in the country's resort island of Bali on Friday, allowing hundreds of cancelled flight to continue, said an official.
The resumption was at 13:30 p.m. Jakarta time, earlier than the scheduled of 18:00 p.m., after it was shut down at 2:00 a.m. Jakarta time, secretary of Indonesia's state air navigation firm Didiet K.S. Radityo said.
"According to data from meteorology agency in Bali there is no indication that volcanic ash covering the air space of I Gusti Ngurah Rai airport," he told Xinhua in a text message.
A total of 239 domestic flights and 207 international flights had been halted during the shutdown, according to disaster management agency.
A total of about 74,000 visitors were affected in addition to the flight cancellation, it revealed.
Mount Agung volcano erupted on Thursday.
