KIEV, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Four Ukrainian army soldiers were killed in the past day in the "active hostilities" in eastern Ukraine, the spokesman for the Ukrainian Defense Ministry Olexandr Motuzyanyk said on Friday.
Besides, two servicemen were wounded and hospitalized in a moderately severe condition, Motuzyanyk told reporters during a media briefing aired on the Defense Ministry's website.
The losses marked one of the worst daily casualties of the Ukrainian army in the past month.
According to the press service of the government's Joint Forces Operation, in the past 24 hours, the truce in eastern Ukraine conflict was violated 28 times, with hostilities along the entire contact line separating the conflicting forces.
Fighting has been raging in eastern part of Ukraine since April 2014, claiming the lives of more than 10,000 people.
On June 27, the Trilateral Contact Group on the settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine has reached an agreement on a fresh round of ceasefire starting on July 1.
