GUANGZHOU, July 3 (Xinhua) -- The first medium-low-speed maglev train in China's Guangdong province will start operation in 2019, authorities said.
By the end of 2017, rail traffic was present in 34 cities in China, including subways, light rails or maglev trains, said Zhuang Shangbiao, an official with China Railway Society, at an industrial summit held in Guangdong's Qingyuan City.
Construction of the new Qingyuan maglev tour line began in December 2017. The main line stretches 8.1 km and it will link Chimelong Tourist Resort with Guangqing Industrial Park.
China's first medium-low-speed maglev rail line was put into commercial operation in May 2016 in Changsha, capital of Hunan. The trains have run over 1.7 million km and carried nearly 6 million passengers as of June this year.
