BEIRUT, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Around 400 Syrian refugees returned on Saturday from camps in Lebanon's Arsal to their homes in Syria's Qara, Jarajir and Ras al-Maara, the National News Agency reported.

It is the second batch of Syrian refugees who returned to their homeland with "the assistance of the red cross offering logistical and medical support," said the report.

On June 28, the first batch of 400 refugees returned to their homes in Syria's Qalamoun via Wadi Hmayyed, also from Arsal.

Meanwhile, it is worth noting that around 1,000 Syrian refugees returned from Shabaa to the Golan Heights more than two months ago.

The Syrian refugee crisis has become a hot topic in Lebanon lately.

More than 1 million Syrian refugees have registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Lebanon, while the government estimates the true number of Syrians in the country at 1.5 million.

Political parties in Lebanon have, on many occasions, voiced their concerns about the large number of refugees in the country, saying their prolonged stay represents an economic and social burden.
