JAKARTA, July 8 (Xinhua) -- China's shuttlers left the 2018 Indonesia Open badminton tournament empty-handed after Chen Yufei lost to Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu Ying in the women's singles final here on Sunday.
Chen, the only Chinese in any of the tournament finals, won the first game, but gave best to her opponent in the remaining two games, with final scores of 21-23, 21-15 and 21-9.
That result gave Tai her second Indonesia Open championship title, after having previously triumphed in 2016.
"I made several mistakes in the first game. I encouraged myself to win in the second game, trying to find my best form during the match," said Tai.
The Chinese Taipei shuttler made it into the final after defeating China's He Bingjiao in the semifinal on Saturday.
Tai now has eyes on the World Championships in China's Nanjing later this month and the Asian Games in Indonesia from August 18 to September 2.
"Today I am so happy. I will come back to Indonesia for the Asian Games," she said.
Tai's win at the 2018 Indonesia Open sees her break her own record of being undefeated in the last 29 international championship matches.
