SINGAPORE, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 1.16 percent or 37 points to close at 3,228.82.
A total of two billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.23 billion Singapore dollars (about 905.39 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 240 to 146.
The STI index closed down 1.99 percent or 64.89 points to close at 3191.82 last Friday. Enditem
