EgyptAir to open Cairo-Hong Kong route in mid Sept.

CAIRO, July 16 (Xinhua) -- EgyptAir, the flag carrier of Egypt, announced Monday that it will start flights to the Chinese city of Hong Kong on Sept. 17.

The new route between Cairo and Hong Kong will be launched on Monday and Friday weekly with a stopover in Bangkok, Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company Ahmed Adel was quoted as saying by official MENA news agency.

Adel added that the carrier aims to open new markets in one of the most important international cities, noting that the Far East market is a promising one for aviation industry.

He also said EgyptAir will fly its Airbus A330-300 aircraft on the route with two classes.

EgyptAir also offers discount of up to 25 percent to its customers on the first flight to Hong Kong on all classes, he said, noting that tickets are currently available till the first day of the flight.

Egypt is a favorable attraction to hundreds of thousands of Chinese tourists each year for its historical sites and sunny sandy beaches.

According to Egyptian statistics, China has become the fourth largest source country of tourists to Egypt since the beginning of 2017.
