BEIJING, July 17 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will support China to develop and implement the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), said a UN official Tuesday.

UNFPA helps more than 150 countries, including China, provide access to sexuality education for adolescents within national contexts, said Navchaa Suren, Representative a.i. of UNFPA China Office, on the launch of the Chinese-language edition of the International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education (ITGSE).

The Chinese edition of ITGSE is significant in supporting China to develop a national technical guidance taking the Chinese situation into consideration, Ms. Navchaa Suren mentioned.

The publication, jointly launched by UNFPA China Office and UNESCO Beijing Cluster Office, is expected to give detailed recommendations of operationalizing CSE to countries which have policies on sexuality education.

China has put in place many policies and programs to support sex education, such as Healthy China 2030, the China Women's Development Plan and China Children's Development Plan.

It has also adopted international agreements such as the Plan of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

"UNFPA will continue to work with the Chinese government to ensure consistent and high-quality CSE for all Chinese adolescents and young people within the framework of the Eighth Country Programme (2016-2020) for China," Navchaa Suren told Xinhua.
