JAKARTA, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Another Indonesian mixed doubles pair rose up the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings after they won the 2018 Thailand Open, the BWF revealed in a statement on Friday.
Gloria Emmanuelle Widjaja and Hafiz Faizal feature in seventh position in the newly published list, up four places from their previous rank of 11.
The duo beat England's husband and wife pair of Chris and Gabrielle Adcock in the final of the Thailand Open earlier this month, with scores of 21-12 and 21-12.
However, the Adcocks remain one place higher in the BWF rankings than Faisal and Widjaja, in sixth place.
The coveted first position is still held by the Indonesian pair of Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir, who scooped gold in the mixed doubles badminton at the at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Second and third places in the BWF rankings are filled by the Chinese pairs of Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong, and Wang Yilu and Huang Dongping.
Having broken into the BWF top ten, Widjaja and Faizal are expected to feature in the running for the medal placings at the forthcoming 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
