TIRANA, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Albanian leaders expressed on Tuesday the solidarity and their condolences for the bereaved families of the victims of wildfires in Greece, local media reported.
Albanian President Ilir Meta addressed a letter to his Greek counterpart Prokopis Pavlopoulos, expressing his sincere condolences.
"I pray that there will be no other casualties in humans and that the wildfires will soon be under control by the Greek fire authorities. I assure you that in these difficult moments, I and the Albanian people are with you and the citizens of Athens and all of Greece," Meta wrote in the letter.
Meanwhile, the Albanian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Europe Ditmir Bushati wrote that he wishes the quick recovery of those affected by the tragedy.
"At this difficult moment, we stand by our neighbor, Greece, and express our condolences to the families of the victims. We wish quick recovery to the affected people," stated Bushati.
Bushati declared that there is one Albanian citizen injured by the fires in Greece, who is in hospital and out of risk for life.
The Albanian Assembly Speaker Gramoz Ruci also sent a letter to his Greek counterpart, Nikos Voutsis.
"We wish you to pass this difficult situation as soon as possible. All Albanians with the Greek people in these severe moments; pain, solidarity and love for the Greek families," said Ruci.
Currently, the situation of fires on the outskirts of Athens is quieter, and more than 70 casualties have been reported.
