Ugandan president leaves for South Africa to attend BRICs summit

KAMPALA, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Thursday left for South Africa to attend the 10th BRICS summit.

In a statement issued on his twitter account, Museveni said he will attend the 10th BRICS summit held at Sandton Convention Center in Johannesburg, aimed for collaboration for inclusive growth and shared prosperity in the 4th industrial revolution.

"In company of First Lady, I have left for the 10th BRICS Summit in South Africa. The discussions will among others focus on how Africa can tap into the 4th Industrial Revolution," said Museveni.

Leaders of several African countries have also been invited to attend a dialogue under the BRICS framework on external cooperation.

The summit gathers leaders from the bloc's five members, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, to discuss measures responding to global challenges.

The July 25-27 summit is held under the theme, "BRICS in Africa: Collaboration for Inclusive Growth and Shared Prosperity in the 4th Industrial Revolution".
