BEIJING, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Having been solicited from the masses, the emblem and mascots for the 14th Chinese National Winter Games, respectively named "Dong Zhi Yun" (Rhyme of Winter) and "Mongolian Caiwa" (Mongolian Dolls) were unveiled here on Thursday.

The calligraphy-like blue emblem resembles the Chinese character and Mongolian character "Dong".

With a spiral shape it symbolizes the vigorousness of the country and the fast development of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The lively mascots are modeled after Mongolian kids wearing typically Mongolian costumes.

The boy is named An Da, which translates as "friends" in Chinese; while the girl "Sai Nu" means "hello". The combination of these two words shows the hospitality of the Mongolian people.

"Athletes from the whole country will compete in seven sports and 109 events in 2020, a third more than the previous edition of the National Winter Games," said Gao Zhidan, the vice director of the General Administration of Sports. The categories of the events are as the same as in Beijing 2022.

As the highest-level winter sports event in China, the 14th National Winter Games is to be held in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in February, 2020.
