RAMALLAH, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah said on Monday that any aid or project for the Palestinian territories must be channelled through the Palestinian government.
Hamdallah also highlighted the call by President Mahmoud Abbas for an international peace conference under multilateral supervision "to guarantee that the Palestinian cause is not transformed from being a political and rights cause to a humanitarian question."
He made the remarks following his meeting with Norwegian Foreign Minister Ine Marie Eriksen in Ramallah.
"Any economic track not running simultaneously with a political track that would guarantee the rights of the Palestinian people in return and self-determination, will not have any chance of success," the prime minister said.
During the meeting with Eriksen, Hamdallah demanded pressure be exerted on Israel to end its blockade on the coastal enclave since 2007.
Recent media reports said a possible truce deal mediated by the UN and Egypt could be reached between Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip and Israel.
