DUBAI, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday expressed its "absolute rejection" to any interference in the internal affairs of Saudi Arabia, UAE state news agency WAM reported.
The UAE vehemently supports any actions or policies Saudi Arabia may take or adopt regarding its internal affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said in a statement.
The statement by the UAE, a Saudi key regional ally, was issued a day after Saudi Arabia decided to expel the Canadian ambassador and recall its ambassador.
Canada has criticized a recent arrest by Saudi Arabia of women's rights activists, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Canadian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dennis Horak was persona non grata and must leave the country within 24 hours.
"The UAE stands in solidarity with Riyadh in the confrontation of any foreign interference that may undermine its sovereignty," said the UAE statement.
