YEREVAN, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- The first-ever rafting tournament in Armenia will be held on Saturday, as announced by the head of the Armenian Association of Young Women and the founder of the first rafting sports club in Armenia, Lilit Asatryan, Armenpress reported.
According to Asatryan, the tournament, which will be held on the River Debed, aims to encourage the development of the sports in Armenia as well as to encourage tourism.
"This is not a tournament for professionals but for amateur lovers of the sport," said Asatryan.
Rafting lovers from neighboring Georgia and others are expected to participate in the tournament.
