RIYADH, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Saudi-led coalition denied on Sunday allegations of its targeting civilians in Yemen, Al Arabiya reported.
The coalition's Joint Incident Assessment Team (JIAT) in Yemen announced in a press conference here the results of the investigation into five cases, four of which turned out to have complied with international laws.
Allegations of the targeting of civilians in three airstrikes in different parts of Yemen from 2015 to 2017 have proven to be wrong as the team confirmed that they were military targets.
Concerning another airstrike targeting the port of Hodeidah in May, the JIAT said that the airstrike targeted three boats of Houthi militias who were planning to endanger navigation in the Red Sea, denying allegations that commercial ships under the protection of the United Nations were targeted in the attack.
The team confirmed, however, that the coalition has mistakenly targeted a civilian vehicle in a military conflict zone and recommended to compensate for the error.
Saudi Arabia has been leading the war in Yemen since 2015 against Iranian-backed Houthis in support of Yemen exiled government.
