BEIRUT, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Association of Lebanese Industrialists (ALI) and the Women Leaders Council (WLC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday to enhance the role of women in various industrial sectors, National News Agency (NNA) reported.
The MoU aims at taking necessary measures to encourage women's involvement and empowerment in the field of industry, allowing them to take part in the board of directors of industrial businesses, according to NNA.
The two organizations also agreed to jointly influence the public opinion over women's issues, such as through conducting training sessions for Lebanese women.
WLC President Madiha Raslan expressed her hopes that the new agreement will pave the way for strengthening women's role in the industrial sector.
ALI President Fadi Gemayel also highlighted women's role in society, saying women should be supported by all means to get active in every economic sector.
