PALEMBANG, Indonesia, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese duo Wu Jiayu and Ji Xiaojing came from behind to shoot down the gold of the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the 18th Asian Games here on Sunday, marking the first title for the star-studded team.
Wu and Ji finished the qualification stage in the first place, but found themselves 2.7 points behind arc rival South Korea after three shooting series in the final.
Wu and Ji then figured out their way back in the knock-out stage, hitting straight shots above 10 points to move up to the first place again. South Korea didn't perform well enough to catch up, only to see China seal the victory with 473.2 points. South Korea took the silver medal with 467.6 points.
The bronze medal went to Vietnam who collected 407.5 points.
"I felt very nervous when we were behind," said 30-year-old Ji who is playing her first Asian Games. "Luckily we trust each other and find our way back."
Wu and Ji are the holders of the current 10m air pistol mixed team world record. They took the gold in April's ISSF World Cup with the 487.7-point world record.
"We practiced a little more after the World Cup, trying to cooperate better with each other," said Wu.
In the 10m air rifle mixed team event, Chinese world champion group Yang Haoran and Zhao Ruozhu finished second, losing to Chinese Taipei duo Lin Yingshin and Lu Shaochuan.
