KUNMING, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Police have detained two suspected drug traffickers and confiscated 18 kilograms of methamphetamine, the customs office in Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, announced Tuesday.
On July 12, authorities in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture received information that two drug dealers planned to smuggle drugs from Myanmar to China via Menglong, a border town in Xishuangbanna.
They arrested two suspects on July 13 and found 18 bottles of methamphetamine in the fuel tank of their car, weighing a total of 18 kg.
Further investigation is underway.
Yunnan is the focal point of the national anti-drug campaign as it borders the Golden Triangle, known for drug production and trafficking.
