HO CHI MINH CITY, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- The border guard force of Vietnam's central highlands Kon Tum province said Saturday that they have detained two local women for transporting synthetic drugs from Laos to Vietnam.
The detainees, Y Thao, 24, from Kon Tum, and Luong Thi Trang, 24, from central Quang Nam province, who were found hiding one kg of crystal amphetamine and 367 pills of lab-made drug in their luggage and bodies.
According to Vietnamese law, those convicted of smuggling over 600 grams of heroin or more than 2.5 kilograms of methamphetamine are punishable by death. Making or trading 100 grams of heroin or 300 grams of other illegal drugs also faces death penalty.
