RAMALLAH, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Two Palestinian senior officials on Sunday warned of the U.S. intervention into the issue of the Palestinian refugees.

The warning came a day after Israeli media reported that the U.S. government is considering denying the right of return for millions of Palestinian refugees.

"The Palestinian side rejects anything that harms the Palestinian people's national rights, especially issues regarding the Palestinian refugees," Wassel Abu Yousef, a member of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee, told the official Palestinian radio station Voice of Palestine.

He also accused the United States of being "fully biased" in favor of Israel at the expense of the Palestinian rights.

The Palestinians oppose any contacts with the current U.S. administration "because of the war the administration is waging against the Palestinian people and their historic rights," Abu Yousef noted.

Ahmad Abu Houli, the PLO official in charge of the refugees department, said in an e-mailed press statement that the question of the Palestinian refugees "is the core and substance of the Israeli-Arab conflict."

The United States "doesn't have the right to cancel any of the UN resolutions which have to be implemented," Abu Houli noted.

"The right of return for Palestinian refugees is guaranteed by the international law and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights," he added.

An Israeli TV report said on Saturday that Washington intends to declare its recognition of the status of refugees only for Palestinians born before 1948.
